Saving PPTX down to PPT produces a deck that PowerPoint 97-2003 can open natively - still the safest bet for very old meeting-room PCs. Core slides, text, and images survive the downgrade; features invented after 2007, such as Morph transitions and modern SmartArt, degrade or drop.

Why convert PPTX to PPT?
- Present on venue hardware frozen on Office 2003, still found in schools, factories, and public offices.
- Publish to kiosk players and LMS platforms written before the XML formats existed.
- Resolve a 'the deck won't open' report from a recipient - binary PPT removes the ambiguity.
Tip: Morph and Zoom transitions, plus anything inserted as an online video, have no 2003 equivalent - swap them for static slides yourself rather than letting the conversion drop them silently.
