Final Cut Pro and iMovie won't touch Flash Video, so FLV clips must become MOV files before Mac editing can begin. Flash Video predates Apple's current media stack entirely, which makes conversion the only route in.

Why convert FLV to MOV?
- Edit rescued 2000s web clips in iMovie or Final Cut Pro, neither of which recognizes FLV files.
- Add archival Flash-era footage to documentary timelines in Mac-based post-production.
- Preview old clips in QuickTime Player on macOS without installing VLC or other third-party software.
Tip: Later FLVs already carry H.264 and AAC, which MOV accepts directly — a rewrap with no quality loss — while early VP6 or Sorenson files need genuine re-encoding.
